CAS as an IBDP core principle not only helps us to explore our purpose and make a difference in society but also instils in us the motivation to pursue what we are best at. It helps us to grow as an individual, both physically and mentally and rewards us for initiation and completion of activities, that are outside the school curriculum, which helps us to learn and build as a global citizen. For me, it is a cherishing experience

I think the CAS program is a very gratifying and an integral part of the DP Curriculum. Not only does it give us an opportunity to do something we’re interested in but it also gives everyone exposure to different activities and situations they’re not used to which may help them develop new interests. I really enjoyed the CAS activities that I participated in because they not only allowed me to contribute to the community around me but also helped me explore my interests and introspect on my actions.

CAS has been a great help for me, personally. It helps push me out of my comfort zone and interact with people by motivating me to do good for the society around me. The creativity aspect of it also gives me time to develop my hobbies into something more fleshed out. I think that the CAS program is essential, as it teaches various life skills and provides a multitude of opportunities to expand our worldview.

A chance to transform our community for the better has always motivated me to contribute in any possible way. However, it was through the CAS programme that I truly understood the holistic approach of community service. Including spectrum of 'Creativity', 'Activity' and 'Service', the IBDP allows students to delve into facilitating various aspects of our society. I believe CAS is an amazing and integral part of the IB curriculum, molding well rounded students who not only excel in academics, but are well developed outside of the classroom too. CAS is centered around experiences, and it has pushed me to pursue and develop my passions in art and teaching as well as provided me with excuses and opportunities to venture out of my comfort zone, particularly with collaborative projects and public speaking. As an IB student, my mind has been conditioned to leap at nearly every opportunity that comes my way with very little hesitation, my reasoning being 'It can be for CAS', treating it almost like a game or a challenge to fulfill as many hours as possible. This has encouraged me to participate in a variety of activities, most of which I never thought I would try.

Initially, when I entered the Diploma program, I assumed CAS is just a compulsory community service, one which requires us to engage with our community as an IB student. However later I discovered it is much more than that. It is a self-discovery journey wherein you get the opportunity to discover your abilities far beyond academics. For me, it has always been about stepping out of my comfort zone by interacting with students and helping learn what I know and pushing myself. It is about being independent and responsible, then using this creatively to guide the team and learn more skills along the way. Something which you never would in an academic setting

Apart from being a flawless distraction from regular academics, the CAS program helps students to understand their priorities better. With invaluable first hand experiences in contrasting Creative, Activity and Service driven fields students can learn to balance studies and other activities, and gradually discover their passion.

I feel like CAS is a necessary element for any student, in fact, any person, to incorporate into their lives. Through our different experiences and projects, we learn many skills that range from collaboration to setting personal goals and taking strides towards them. It gives students a chance to move away from their education and take time for themselves, and do so in a constructive way, resulting in the development of their character, and better of the community as well.

The CAS program in IBDP isn't restricted to the school premises. CAS can be done anywhere and anytime. CAS might appear to be difficult to keep up with, but soon you realize that CAS is actually shaping your personality and making you a better person. It not only helps you in contributing towards society but also in exploring the creative side within you and adventuring your physical capabilities. CAS makes you form as well as acknowledge your worth in society.
