It is most usual every year for me to write a message for our outgoing batch of students who leave school and move on to tertiary education, but this year must ask me to reflect and think what can be truly worth sharing with each of you- our children. For this is not just another year in the life of all of us. Each year our alumni have moved onto universities all over the globe and done well. They have been good at diverse areas of learning and made their own inimitable mark. However, your batch has the unenviable challenge of stepping into a world where you will have to search for far greater resilience of character and mental strength and dig deep into all the reserves of moral fibre as you face a world which has been changed not just for a short while but for possibly a very long time. For many of you as you look into the unsure future, the road ahead may seem unpredictable and dark, but that is when you must remember to be calm and take one step at a time- one day at a time. I am reminded to share of how one drives into the dark night in one’s car. It seems the road stretches into the darkness and the path ahead looks ominous, but you trust the headlight to show the way a little at a time. The headlamps don’t light the road all the way for kilometers ahead, but you drive a little at a time and know that with the light you can negotiate one bend at a time. Even so take one day at a time, one month, one year at a time and breathe easy- the light of all the courage and wisdom has been lit within you through your years here at PSN. These months of the lockdown and the time spent more with oneself has enabled us to realize that the true pursuit of happiness is not in aggrandizement and living life at breakneck speed, nor of taking the blessings of life for granted. Rather nature in its wisdom has given us the opportunity to pause and look at the little blessings of life and see the things that are REALLY REALLY WORTHWHILE. In my opinion Pathways has resonated this idea through its education that underlines not just accumulating knowledge but the values that are far from temporal and goes with you wherever your life takes you. Years from now as you turn back and look to 2020 when you graduated from PSN – may you reminisce, recognize and radiate the beauty that you imbibed here to permeate everywhere.
