Hello!

My name is Shelby LaMendola and I am excited to be entering my seventh year as a Bearcat. Previously I spent 8 years teaching Sports Medicine and working as a full time Athletic Trainer here on the central coast. The opportunity to take on full time teaching in the Health Science and Medical Technology CTE pathway has been a dream come true. My path to the classroom has been unique, beginning at UC Davis where I completed a B.A. in Psychology, and a 3 year internship in Athletic Training. After graduation I spent 2 years in my hometown working as an assistant athletic trainer for the high school football team, and assisted in instruction for the athletic training course. It was during this time that I became passionate about bringing health science career preparation to secondary school students, opening up opportunities for hands on learning and skill attainment while in high school. I made the decision to further my education at Fresno State where I completed a B.S. in Kinesiology-Athletic Training, and earned my certification as an Athletic Trainer. During my time at Fresno State I had the opportunity to work with the Football and Baseball teams, including being in the dugout as an athletic trainer when the team won the NCAA Championship in 2008. As a practicing healthcare professional and career technical educator I bring our Bearcat students valuable knowledge about heath career opportunities, educational paths, professional development, local industry connections, and the education and practical skills required to be successful in the booming healthcare field.
