This was one area that we had gaps that still needed to be closed.
Our vision for staff is K-12 integration of ITL Standards and identify how they are applied and promote 21st Century Skills in their content area.
Through the last few years the Pardeeville Area School District has worked hard at integrating career and college readiness, which ensures that students own their learning and promote transition skills as they exit K-12 and enter their adult years. In tandem with this, we are now successfully a 1:1 district for grades 1-12.
The Technology Steering Commitee has worked to monitor, change and evolve Professional Development opportunities for staff that allow for individualization and growth.
Future Ready Schools is a Project of the Alliance for Excellent Education, working in partnership with the US Department of Education and a vast coalition of over 50 national and regional partners. Future Ready provides district leaders, like us, tools to work collaboratively to make personalized, student-centered learning a reality in all schools. At the heart of Future Ready is the Future Ready Framework, a robust structure for digital learning visioning, planning, and implementation focused on Personalized Student Learning. The research-based Framework emphasizes collaborative leadership and creating an innovative school culture. All content focuses on seven key areas (called gears), plus leadership, each of which are addressed during the comprehensive planning process. This framework keeps student learning at the heart of all decision-making.
We will look at ITL Standards in the K-12 Scope and Sequence and identify where each standard is being utilized.
The technology steering committee will continue to meet monthly and will communicate with staff the topics discussed. We will continue to use social media and newsletters to promote the artifacts that students create.
As a technology steering committee we will continually monitor and develop district curriculum to ensure that all of the ITL Standards are met at the Pardeeville Area School District.
By 2025 we will identify standard compliance within current K-12 scope and sequence, identify standards not covered.
By 2026 we will work with staff to integrate the standards that are currently not being addressed.
By 2027 we will have a K-12 Scope and Sequence identified of where the ITL Standards are being addressed and met.
To do this we will:
identify key components of what is meant by authentic, collaborative work in other districts and in relevant literature.
review current research and best practice related to collaborative teaching methods an identify trends that are consistent with local priorities.
continue to work towards the development of a local definition. For example, in several of his writings on the topic, author Fred Newman identified three criteria essential in an authentic learning environment:
-meaning and knowledge are created and produced by students
-students use inquiry in the learning process
-students work has relevancy beyond the classroom walls
