In compliance with the Wisconsin Administrative Code PI 8.01(2)(h), the Pardeeville Area School District Library has created a three year library plan which uses the Future Ready Librarian Framework to plan instruction, increase student achievement, provide equitable resources to all and be a collaborative partner in district initiatives.
This is what the library is currently doing to support the Future Ready Librarian Framework and goals for the future.
Curates digital resources, designs and implements evidence-based curricula and assessments, and empowers students as creators.
Current Practices:
Digital resources available via the updated library website including BadgerLink, BrainPop, BrainPop Jr, Flocabulary, GetEpic!, PebbleGo!, PebbleGo!Next, ProQuest CultureGrams, Discoverer, Issues Resercher, Scholastic TrueFlix, Sora
Library Technology Classes for grades 2-5 that include typing, digital citizenship, research skills, coding and makerspace challenges
Collaborate with numerous teachers to provide resources, instruction and technology support
Utilize Code.org and Common Sense Media Curriculum for Digital Safety
Leads professional learning to cultivate broader understanding of the skills that comprise success in a digital age (e.g., critical thinking, information literacy, digital citizenship, technology).
Current Practices:
Individual work with staff to promote the use of technology in the classroom to enhance student experiences and growth
PD From A to Z where staff complete different squares each year and reflect on that allign with District Initiatives, in place of programs like GIG and TechnoPardee opportunities
Our Librarian Continues to Learn Professionally by:
Attending CESA training and meetings to collaborate with CESA 5 librarians to enhance library program and staff training
Attending the annual WEMTA (Wisconsin Educational Media & Technology Association) and learning from librarians from around the state of Wisconsin
Actively engaging on social media platforms in a variety of librarian groups learning from librarians around the world
Provides and advocates for equitable access to collection tools using digital resources, programming, and services in support of the school district’s strategic vision.
Current Practices:
The library website provides access to several resources all in one location such as ebooks, audiobooks, online storybooks, and research databases/links
1:1 devices for students grades 1-12
Elementary library provides Chromebooks for staff and Kindergarten students for support of district initiatives
Access to audiobooks in Sora (5-12) and GetEpic! (4K-5) for students to support audial reading
Leverages an understanding of school and community needs to identify and invest in digital resources such as books and ebooks to support student learning.

Maintenance and compliance of Common School Fund monies
Maintenance of Library budget
Promote free resources such as BadgerLink

Maintain a physical library collection that supports all students in the building
Weeding of nonfiction to books that are circulated and less than 10 years old
Cultivates partnerships within the school and local community (including families and caregivers, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, public and higher education libraries, businesses) to promote engagement and a community of readers.

Promotes and collaborates with Angie W. Cox Public Library programing and staff
Promotes Library programming on District Facebook site
Promote and support local authors
Promote the Book Fair
4K reading buddies with community members
Dual Credit opportunities and support at Madison College
Teaches and promotes student data and privacy through his or her instruction and role as an educational leader.
Current Practices:
Ensure student checkout, circulation, and fine procedures preserve student privacy and are equitable
Digital Citizenship lessons are taught to elementary and middle school students to promote responsible and ethical use of technology, the importance of secure passwords, navigating safely online and keeping personal information private
Maintain a Web 2.0 List and check compliance and communicate with parents the websites that a student's information may be stored on
Participates in setting the school district's vision and strategic plan for digital learning and fosters a culture of collaboration and innovation to empower teachers and learners.
Current Practices:
Librarian collaborates with teaching staff to promote library materials
Librarian collaborates monthly with technology leadership team that includes the technology director and superintendent
Librarian leads the District Technology Steering Committee and Technology Trainers
Librarian involved with the Wisconsin Educational Media and Technology Association (WEMTA)
Provides flexible spaces that promote inquiry, creativity, collaboration and community.
Current Practices:
Display boards available in both Library Spaces
Collaboration Stations with screen available for staff and student use in the MS/HS library
Comfortable reading areas in both the elementary and MS/HS library
Fixed library schedule for 4K-5 grade library classes
Collaborative work areas in both the elementary and MS/HS library
MS/HS Schedule is fixed and students assigned to space that are completing independent studies along with ASP
Creates inclusive collections that acknowledge and celebrate diverse experiences and provide instructional opportunities to empower learners as effective users and creators of information and ideas.
Current Practices:
Purchase diverse (cultures, families, religions, gender diversity, etc.) titles at all levels.
Provide a variety of reading levels at every school.
Provide eBooks and audiobooks to 5-12 grades, through Sora
ebooks and audiobooks for the K-5 grade students through Epic!
Encourage student and staff input on purchasing.
Keep collections up to date with weeding and purchasing
Work with Follett to set up collection analysis that shows the diversity of the collection.
