MY BIO:
My name is Julianna Lima and art has always been my passion. I was born in Salvador, Bahia, and my whole life I have studied at PASB. I love all forms of art and its world of possibilities and no limitations. However, I view art as a hobby and an important aspect of our culture. I just turned eighteen and my dream job is to become a doctor. I am no master at drawing and creating, but I have a delicate eye for the art world. On this site, I will share my art pieces and a part of my world.

Curatorial Rationale
"Every artist dips his brush in his soul and paints his nature into his paintings" as stated by Henry Ward Beacher, a renowned clergyman and one of the most influential voices of his time, art speaks where words are unable to explain. Since an early age I have a great interest in art, and studying at PASB my curiosity in this subject has always been fed. To create art, an individual must be courageous enough to innovate. My favorite thing about art is the ability one has to explorer its freedom, and as a good Aquarius, I abuse this privilege. Art also gives me space to criticize global issues and bring awareness to an ongoing problem, such as Hunger. The art piece "The World's Plate" not only calls attention to this scenario but criticizes society's corrupted structure, where many die from starvation and few have access to an unlimited food source.
Photography has also been my passion since an early age. I had never seen it as an art form, but the IB Visual Arts class changed my perspective. After Kiolo's lecture, my thoughts regarding photography gained a new shape. It was a "one of a kind" experience! What most impacted me about Kiolo's lecture was that his coolest pictures were taken from objects that we least expected. You just need to be creative and let the moment inspire you. Having this in mind, I decided to take some pictures around the school, of objects we are used to seeing every day but never thought of it as something extraordinary. The pictures turned out to be amazing, colorful, and vibrant. Photography is all about perspective and learning about each individual's world and how they see it. Personally, that's what most motivates me to take pictures.
