1. Individual Student Planning
Conduct individual meetings with McKinney-Vento students to increase participation and motivation. Monitor and track attendance, behavior, and academic progress to guide interventions and support student success.
2. Guidance Curriculum
Deliver SEL and character education lessons 4–5 times per year for all grades PreK–4, including Stand Strong/Stay Safe anti-victimization lessons. Support school-wide initiatives such as Red Ribbon Week, Random Acts of Kindness, and Mental Health Awareness Month to promote social-emotional growth, safety, and positive school culture.
3. Responsive Services
Facilitate small group sessions addressing social skills, behavior intervention, friendship-building, grief, and coping strategies. Provide targeted supports such as Backpack Buddy, Self-Care Closet, Brighter Bites, and referrals to WAVE Clinic and TCHATT to meet students’ academic, emotional, and basic needs.
4. System Support / Campus Collaboration
Collaborate with campus staff and community partners, including the Project CLASS leader, social worker, parent coordinator, CIS coordinator, and CIS VOCA specialist, to review data and coordinate supports. Support initiatives such as Operation Warm, Career Day, Giving Tree, and Thanksgiving meal distributions. Monitor and use data on attendance, behavior, SEL, RTI, PBIS, and wellness to guide campus-wide interventions.
A second-grade student had 3 behavior referrals in September 2024. After joining a behavior intervention small group in October 2024, the student demonstrated measurable improvement, accumulating only 2 additional referrals for the remainder of the school year. This outcome illustrates the effectiveness of targeted small group interventions in improving student behavior and supporting social-emotional growth.
