ROLE OF THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR

The role of a school counselor involves building positive and impactful relationships with students, faculty, administrators, parents, and the broader community. Ms. Bemus supports students’ educational, social, and emotional growth through comprehensive guidance initiatives, individualized counseling sessions, and group counseling. She collaborates with the administrative team to design programs and support families through parent education, consultation, resource allocation, and referrals. 

LEADERSHIP & ADVOCACY

The counselor leads a coordinated support network—including the administrative team, parent coordinator, Communities in Schools liaison, and VOCA specialist—to provide comprehensive support to students, staff, and families. Through this collaboration, the counselor addresses students’ emotional and academic needs, implements SEL strategies, fosters positive classroom experiences, and works to close academic gaps, ensuring all students have the resources and guidance to succeed.
