Discipline
The South High community expects you to behave in a positive manner conducive to an orderly educational atmosphere. You are expected to differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate behavior in and out of the classroom and during any school-sponsored activity. You will be held accountable for inappropriate behavior and are advised to familiarize yourself with the South High and the Parkway District Discipline Policies contained in this handbook.
At South High, the following behaviors are infractions of the student code of conduct: truancy, skipping or unexplained absences, cheating, plagiarism, smoking, false alarms or threats, vandalism, graffiti (including spirit graffiti on school buildings or grounds), destruction of school or individual property, fighting, stealing, possession or use of a weapon, inappropriate sexual conduct, harassment, bullying, inappropriate use of technology, and being under the influence or in possession of alcohol, drugs or electronic smoking devices or paraphernalia on school grounds or while attending any school-sponsored activity.
The information listed above does not cover every possible situation. It is the responsibility of the administration to review individual discipline cases and assess consequences that uphold the school and district, and to follow state and federal laws that apply to public schools. In most circumstances, an administrator will contact your parent/guardian when it is believed that you have violated a school rule or have acted in a manner counter to the interests of the school community. All students enrolled at Parkway South High are subject to the rules and regulations in this document. The purpose of rules at South High is to provide you with a safe, enjoyable, and productive educational environment.
