This is the family that took care of Harry, this family had a great life until Harry came into their life, they were supposed to take good care of Harry but they did the direct opposite they all hated Harry because he was not normal like the rest of them, he was not born in this world and the only thing the Durslys want is to be an average family but harry ruined it, but even though they are the aunt and uncle to Harry and they were ruthless to Harry, they made him sleep in the closet not even in a decent bed. sometimes he was given the leftovers for lunch, but in school, it was worse for Harry because Dudley (his cousin) and his friends bullied Harry, so no one wanted to come near Harry because they did not want to be bullied by Dudley and his "gang". 

Harry is a normal person or that is what he thinks or what he was told by his aunt and uncle (The Durslys), they told Harry that his parents died in a so-called car crash but they actually died in another way, Harry was told a lie and now he is stuck with the Durslys and they Durslys can't do anything about it. Harry is 10 or 11 he is a kind fellow, and he did not do terribly in school but the teachers did not like him too much and he had no friends because of Dudley and his gang no one wants to be friends with Harry because again they don't wanna get bullied.

At one point in the book Hagrid comes and tells Harry the truth to harry about his parent's deaths to an evil wizard and how he was supposed to be taken care of by the Durslys but Hagrid learns about how the Durslys lied to Harry so he scolds the Durslys and scared the crap out of them. Then after they go Hagrid helps Harry out and tells him everything he also invites Hagrid to Hogwarts. He is a tall giant and has a Harry's beard plus he is pretty fat too, but Hagrid is a humble man and also helps Harry get his school supplies for his new school in the magical realm at Hogwarts.
