This chapter Mainly talks about how the Durslys act and how weird things were happening around Pervert Drive like owls in the morning and people dressed in wizard and witch costumes, but the Durslys were not one single bit happy about it because the woman sister was a normal person until she was invited to Hogwarts and now she has disappeared, one day on a mysterious night Harry Potter was delivered to his Aunt and uncles(The Durslys) house because his parents were killed by the dark lord Voldemort, Now as the morning came Aunt petunia went to open the door for the daily newspaper but then she screamed to find a baby and a note right next to it, she knew who this was she could not get rid of him so the Durslys took care of him.
Now in this chapter, Harry is being taken care of by the Dursleys we find out the Dursleys also have a son named Dudley but Dudley is a bad kid he is pretty selfish, unlike Harry who was a grateful kid but Harry did not like the Dursleys too much because they hated him and they made him sleep in a closet. His aunt and uncle hated him and sometimes Harry was given leftovers to eat, but in school, it was worse at school because his cousin Dudley had a "gang" and always bullied Harry, Harry did not do badly at school his grades were not bad but he had no friends because no one wanted to because they did not want to get bullied but Dudley and his gang, one-day harry wanted to run away but as he thought about it he came to the conclusion that it was a terrible idea but he had no choice but to get treated like a nobody here at home and school by his cousin.
In this chapter, Harry kept getting mail from an anonymous person(Hagrid). He has been getting mail from the chiminea, but Harry's Aunt and Uncle try to keep it a secret but it's not long till Harry finds out about the mail and starts questioning his aunt and uncle but they say dont talk about it. But more and more mail came flooding in from the chimney and Uncle Vernon wanted to go to a place where the mail would stop coming but all the palaces he went to were failed attempts then he went to this place or hut to sleep with everybody he thought this was the safest place but Uncle Vernon was wrong, now Hagrid himself came and introduced himself at the hut and harry had no clue who he was and uncle Vernon did not what harry to find out who he really was.
In this Chapter Hagrid comes to the hut where the Dursleys and Harry were located, all Hagrid did was scare the crap out of the Dursleys because they did not tell him the truth about him and his parents and how they did and how he is supposed to be a wizard. After the Dursleys retreated into their room he and Harry sat down to talk Hagrid revealed everything about how his parents did to the dark lord and how he was escorted by Hagrid to the cruel Dursley's house, hagrid came to say happy birthday to Harry because it was harrys 11 birthday, plus Hagrid reveals he was the one sending the mail and how the mail was about how he was invited to study at Hogwarts. (Some parts were said in Chapter Summrie 3)
In this chapter Harry is taken to Diagon Ally by Hagrid so Harry can buy school supplies for Hogwarts also goes to a bank run by goblins to get Harry money, As he is walking through the alley he has a feeling that everyone is talking about him(Probably because of his scar on his forehead). He also meets an arrogant boy named Drago Malfloy who Harry will make an enemy in the later chapters. This chapter was pretty short in total.
Harry’s last month with the Dursleys is terrible. The day before he is supposed to leave, Harry asks Uncle Vernon to take him to the train station. Uncle Vernon agrees to take him but makes fun of him for saying he is to leave from track nine and three quarters, as is marked on the ticket Hagrid gave him. The following day, Harry arrives at the station and stands between tracks nine and ten, wondering how to find tracks nine and three-quarters. Finally, he heard some people talk about Hogwarts, it was a family of red-haired children. He asks their mother for help, and she tells him to walk through the barrier between tracks nine and ten. Harry does so, and he is astonished to find the train to Hogwarts on the other side. Harry boards it with amazement.
The new students came flushing fast out of the train doors as they walked in Professor Mongol said they would be picked into their houses which include; Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. Each team had its own Quidditch team(Hogwarts Sport), they were called up and a magical hat chose them for their house Harry and Ron went to Gryffindor with Herminie, and Draco and his friends went to Slytherin. The reason why Harry did not want to go to Slytherin was because that was the house the dark lord Voldemort went to plus both his parents went to Griffendor so he went to Griffendor.
During breakfast on the first Friday, Harry’s owl Hedwig who delivers mail, arrives with a tea invitation from Hagrid. Later, in his Potions class, Harry discovers that Professor Snape really does not like him, mocking Harry as “our new celebrity” and then humiliating Harry for his ignorance of herbs. Harry brings Ron with him to Hagrid’s shack for tea. Harry and Ron are disconcerted by Hagrid’s huge and fierce-looking dog. Hagrid tells Harry that he is overreacting to Snape’s teaching, telling them that Snape would have no reason to hate him. But Harry has trouble trusting Hagrid with that.
At dinner, Harry excitedly tells Ron about joining the Quidditch team but tells him that Wood wants it to be a secret. Malfoy comes over with his cronies Crabbe and Goyle and teases Harry about getting in trouble earlier. The tension grows and Malfoy challenges Harry to a wizard’s duel. Harry accepts, in spite of Hermione’s attempt to dissuade them from breaking the school rules. As Harry and Ron sneak out later that night, Hermione tries to stop them but gets locked out of the dorm and must tag along.
The Quidditch begins, and Harry is about to play in his first match against Slytherin. To prepare, Harry borrows a book entitled Quidditch Through the Ages from Hermione. Professor Snape discovers Ron, Harry, and Hermione out with the book one evening and confiscates it from Harry on the feeble pretext that library books may not be taken outside. Harry’s suspicions of Snape continue to grow. Harry notices that Snape is limping. Going off to retrieve the book from Snape, Harry overhears Snape talking to Argus Filch about the three-headed dog, which makes Harry even more suspicious.
