In the book, "A Night Divided," By Jennifer A. Nielsen, the theme of the story is 'People should never give up on their family'. In the book, Gerta, the main character wanted to get to her family that was separated one night when the government put up the Berlin wall.With her dad on the other side, her mom decided that she wanted to pretend Gerta's dad was dead because he had left just before the wall was built, and it made it look like their family was against the government when it was just a coincidence that could kill their family, which is part of the plot. Gerta, Fritz, and Mama have to get across the wall, but the price was high if she tried to escape the Berlin wall and if she made even the tiniest mistake, she would face the extreme opposite of being happy, alive, and with her family, so she made a plan so that she could try to get across secretly, but will all of her efforts be enough to save their family?
