Art: Drawing
Graduation Requirements in: Fine Arts/Elective

Course Length: Semester
A studio art course where students learn to draw using materials like pencil, pen, colored pencil, pastels, and charcoal. Weekly drawing practice is a key part of class, as well as larger projects.
Level 1 students will begin with basic techniques to build their realistic drawing skills.
Level 2 will continue with realistic drawing.
Level 3 will begin to branch out into other styles.
Level 4 are able to propose their own semester long drawing project.
Art: Painting

A studio art course where students learn to paint using materials like temera, watercolor, and acrylics. Weekly drawing/painting practice is a key part of class, as well as larger projects.
Level 1 students will begin with basic techniques to build their realistic drawing & painting skills.
Level 2 will continue with realistic painting and building their point of view.
Level 3 will begin to branch out into other styles of painting.
Level 4 are able to propose their own semester long painting project.
Art: Ceramics
Graduation Requirements in: Fine Arts/Elective

Course Length: Semester
A studio art course where students learn to use clay to create practical and sculptural items. Students will also learn to use other materials to enhance their sculptures. Students will write and draw plans, as well as construct larger clay projects.
Level 1 students will begin with a basic clay technique called hand-building.
Level 2 will learn how to throw on the pottery wheel to make vessels as well as hand build.
Level 3 will have the choice between hand building and wheel throwing for their projects.
Level 4 are able to propose their own semester long ceramics or sculpture. project.
Art of Craft

Course Length: Semester
This course focuses on hands-on creation of different crafts and products. Students will be required to focus on quality craftsmanship and creativity with different materials. The course content will change with each semester, so students may retake the course as often as they like.
Possible projects may include: Jewelry, stained glass, weaving, sewing, recycled materials, product design, woodworking, printmaking, etc.
AP 2D Studio Art

Course Length: Full Year - Is offered as after school club for 21-22 School Year
This is a year long course meant for students who are serious about their art-making and have a high level of technical skill. Juniors and Seniors should have a solid foundation of drawing and painting skills, and be ready to create 15+ works of art around a central concept of their choice. Self-discipline and dedication is key to creating a quality portfolio and scoring well on the AP Art exam.
Juniors may take the AP Art exam if they feel ready, or may retake the class as a senior and test then. Seniors will test in the spring semester. Students may take the AP Art test twice, either to replace a lower score, or within another art topic. There is a separate fee to take the AP Art exam.

Intro to Digital Photography

Intro to Digital Photography explores foundational photography principles while encouraging students to explore the fun and enjoyment one can have while capturing moments through the lens of a camera. This course will challenge students to creatively produce different styles of photography which in turn will allow students to grow their creative mind as they see the world with a camera. Within this class students will learn, make and repeat as that mindset fosters a truly successful photographer.
Newspaper
Graduation Requirements in: Fine Arts/Elective

Course Length: Semester
This course focuses on journalistic writing and newspaper production. The class is responsible for all aspects of producing at least 6 editions of the school newspaper (3 issues per semester) and producing the newspaper website. Students will have an introduction to a survey of journalism skills. The course will also cover both photography and graphic design. Students learn photo composition, photo editing, and graphic design principles. Students work with both Photoshop and InDesign.
