Important Information About Music Lessons
Most of our music educators at Parklands College are part-time staff. To ensure smooth communication and effective lesson management, please keep the following in mind:
Lesson Cancellations:
If you cannot attend a lesson, kindly inform your music educator at least 24 hours in advance, regardless of the reason.
If you are absent from school, please notify your music educator or Mrs. Matsimela, in addition to Parklands Secondary.
Rescheduling Lessons:
Lessons cannot be rescheduled for tutorials or group activities without 24 hours’ notice.
Only one reschedule per quarter is permitted, subject to the discretion and availability of your music educator.
You may NOT reschedule a lesson for a study session / tutorial / war cry practice / homeroom / grade meeting etc / test.
If a test is scheduled during Utility or Break, please inform your educator that you have a music lesson. The test can be rescheduled for the same day during the after-school Homework Session.
Scheduling Parameters:
Music lessons must fit within the educator’s allocated teaching days. Please be flexible and avail yourself accordingly.
GET Learners (Grades 7–9):
You may schedule your lesson during the last session of the day if preferred. However:
Any missed content is your responsibility to catch up.
Tests scheduled during this time, must be done in the HOMEWORK session on the SAME DAY. Please communicate with your subject educator at least 48 hours before the test date.
Please Note: Missed lessons cannot be made up without proper notification.
Lessons CONTINUE throughout the Exam Period for EVERYONE. Lessons cannot be reimbursed or made up at a later time.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in creating a seamless music learning experience for all! 🎶
6. Accompaniment
If you require piano accompaniment, please book with Ms Phillips and cc both me and your music educator in the email. At least two rehearsal sessions are required before your performance, so please arrange this at least two weeks in advance to avoid last-minute challenges, as Ms Phillips has a full schedule.
