This week in maths we have been learning all about addition word problems. 


Your task is to read the word problem below and solve it. Please remember to write the number sentence you need to solve to problem and then write the answer.

 


1. Tom was waling down the road and picked up 3 stones, his friend Sam picked up 5 more, how many stone do they have altoghter?

2. Malaika had 1 sweet in her pocket and her dad gave her 8 more, how many sweets does Malaika now have? 

3. 4 cars drove into a carpark and another 4 drove in, how many cars are now in the carpark? 

4.  Sasha put 5 pokemon cards in his bag but when he got to school his friends gave him another 5, how many cards does Sasha now have?

5. It was Demi's birthday and her friend Sarah gave her 2 flowers, her friend Sofia then knocked on the door and gave Demi 7 more flowers. How many flowers does Demi now have?  


Challenge:

1. Waz bought 2 buttons and the shop to fix her coat, her mum gave her 3 more buttons and her dad gave her another 3. How many buttons does Waz now have? 

2. Mohammad was walking down the street and saw 5 birds sitting in a tree, 2 more birds joined and then another 3 birds sat on the tree. How many birds are now sitting in the tree?

3. In a pond there was 1 lonely frog, luckily 6 more frogs came to swim in the pond. Five minutes later another 2 frogs joined the pond, how many frogs are now in the pond?
