Arts Collaboration Process
The Visual Art process for this project consisted of students filling out/recording a log document of their drawing plans for each chapter. There were three assignments that divided the chapters, and the number of drawings - with the drawing medium up to students' choice. A constant throughout the project was that students' art was all based off of inspiration from character/s or scene design. The picture above was created by Hayden Cadwell; he used the collage/paste technique to recreate all of his scenes.
The images were also posted on the 6th grade page of our Visual Art Show earlier this spring.
In Music, students began with refreshing their body percussion unit. Further into Remote Learning, students learned the ins and outs of Soundtrap to create original music for different chapters of Oakland Tales
In Drama, projects focused on scenes from the novels based off of their studies of Oakland Tales in Humanities. Many students collaborated in creative ways by adapting the novel into a script and then bringing each scene (including "deleted" scenes) to life through expressive videos and audio.

This project attempted to honor all the workers out there that are providing services to our community. In a bee community, each of the bees plays and important role to guarantee the survival of the hive. In the same way, all our workers out there keep our community going and humming. The creation of a sculptural hive with inspirational drawings are the students' appreciation and awareness of the work they do. Students used cardstock to create their hexagon hives.
Throughout the centuries, human beings have found ways to express their emotions through songs and music. In this unit, we explored the body as a tool with this goal in mind. We learned different rhythms to create a rhythm choreography.
In this unit, we explored their understanding of basic proficiency with Soundtrap by using loops to compose a dubstep songs. They made their melodies and beats, and some of the students created a dance with their compositions, and It was entertaining to watch them.
