During the extended school closure, our School Counselors and Student Assistance Counselors (SACs) will continue to provide support and services to students and families. See the outline below for additional information.
Due to the very nature of an online learning environment, the provision of online counseling for significant emotional/mental health concerns presents logistical and ethical challenges. Many of our school counselors are currently in accommodations where they may not be able to privately and confidentially conference with students or quickly access mental health services.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to explore the Parent Resources tab for helpful information. If your child is experiencing significant mental health symptoms or in the event of a serious concern about a student (i.e. self-harm, suicidal thoughts/threats, severe anxiety, Child Protection situation, etc.), please call local emergency personnel.
School Counselors will:
Monitor and respond to student and parent email communication
Check in on students who may need additional support during this time
Check in on students with Section 504 and I&RS Action Plans, as necessary
Coordinate with staff to identify and support students who may be experiencing challenges with the home learning environment
