The Kolab Award draws its name from the Khmer word "កុលាប" (Kolab), meaning "rose." This word can be derived from the Persian term "golāb," also meaning "rose." This symbolic name reflects the deep cultural appreciation for flowers in Cambodia, where they embody concepts of beauty, love, and growth.
Why Kolab? The flower, though delicate, can grow even in the harshest conditions, symbolizing hidden strength and silent perseverance. While the Romdoul is Cambodia's national flower, the Kolab (rose) carries a profound meaning of resilience, uniqueness and beauty.
The award's mission is to amplify the visibility of scholarly contributions within Cambodia while promoting collaborative research between Paragon International University and external academic institutions. By fostering partnerships and encouraging a spirit of academic excellence, the Kolab Award aspires to elevate the research landscape in Cambodia, nurturing a vibrant and interconnected community of scholars and researchers dedicated to the advancement of knowledge.
