The Year 7 art course covers three units - drawing, colour and sculpture.
Students take inspiration from a wide variety of artists and experiment with different materials and processes to create their own drawings, paintings and prints.
Students develop creative skills and the theoretical understanding of art required in progress to GCSE level.
The music department gives students the opportunity to perform, compose and listen to a wide variety of music genres and forms, with the intention of exploring both its cultural and musical values.
Throughout each topic, there will be opportunities for students to analyse a range of pieces; perform suitable pieces associated with each topic; and compose with a given style or skill as the focus.
Students study a range of topics across their Computer Science lessons. These include:
'Online Safety' where they learn about how to keep themselves and data safe online;
'Computer Systems' where they learn about the components of a computer system;
'Computational Thinking' where they learn about algorithms and problem solving.
The PE department is able to provide the delivery of the subject using some of the best sport facilities in the area.
During lessons, we provide a varied curriculum which includes striking and fielding, hockey, gymnastics, problem solving, netball, badminton and athletics.
Students will be taught they key concepts of fitness training to enable all to improve current fitness levels and learn skills that could be used beyond school.
Fitness and Nutrition has the aim of exposing each learner to the world of food and health.
It incorporates a link to the learners' home lives and it is tailored to explore nutrition in a bite-size version, to enable all of our learners to understand the need for a balanced diet.
Lessons are divided into both theory and practical.
Each Drama lesson offers both a practical and theoretical element.
The Drama curriculum is designed around the texts and topics covered in English, offering not only a deeper insight into the themes and issues raised throughout literature, but an opportunity to explore these works of art in alternative and creative ways.
