Our whanau

Our Papakura High School whanau has a rich and diverse range of students, from a number of differentethnic backgrounds. In 2017, we have introduced a new concept of whanau, which provides a "school within a school" structure, to ensure we do a good job of looking after the pastoral and learning needs of all the students at Papakura High.

This is our team of staff who are looking after our three whanau this year.

Kirikiri whanau: Ms Lisa Mortimer, Ms Di Corban, Hepe Kirikau

Otuuwairoa whanau: Ms Kelly Peterson, Mr Troy England. Billy-Gene Rawiri

Te Aparangi whanau: Mr Paul van Etten, Ms Gail Boyce, Shar Matafeo

We have been very fortunate to be gifted our whanau names by our local iwi Ngati Tamaoho. The names all relate to lost settlement names and connect back to the time of the Land Wars, during which time the territory of Waikato- Tainui was invaded by British and colonial forces, with massive land confiscations resulting.
