Please do NOT have any human "Stars" / people in the video, except perhaps as backdrop. Focus on the use of digital images of books / literary paraphernalia and/or movie props, digital characters of famous authors and literary characters, etc. as this should be something I should be able to use regularly in future classes... long after you graduate. There are many examples throughout our state and nation’s history of African-Americans who have contributed to their community in a meaningful way. Using your own words, write about an African-American who has had an impactful and inspiring effect on their community whose story should be shared. The subject of the essay should be a Floridian.

• Morris A. Young, Gadsden County Sheriff;
• Dr. Joseph Ladapo, Florida Surgeon General and Secretary of the Florida Department of Health;

The following is this year’s essay topic: Choose a character from a novel or play that has impacted your life and interview him or her in a podcast. Choose a name for the podcast (essay) and write between 500-700 words. The podcasts (essay) will be will be judged on their content, dialogue, adherence to the genre, level of engagement, and style. GUIDELINES FOR ENTRIES: 1) Email a PDF copy of the podcast, typed and double spaced. THEME: "His Dream was a Moment, Our Success is a Movement!" In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., here are a series of contests in which you may wish to participate (and EARN PRIZES and EXTRA CREDIT). Each student will submit one essay, no longer than 500 words based on this year’s theme: “Celebrating Untold Stories and Contributions of Hispanic Americans in Florida”.
