The SAT is an important test that determines if students are ready for college. It can be taken multiple times. However, after the mandatory one provided, students must pay to take it again if they are not satisfied with their score.
SAT test costs usually range around $60. Late registration costs an extra $30, and canceling or changing testing location is another $25. You can sign up on College Board: https://www.collegeboard.org/
How To Prepare?
There are many ways to prepare for the SAT!
PSAT sign ups → The PSAT is something that Freshmen and Sophomores will take for free once a year BUT Juniors can sign up for an extra PSAT or two so they can get a good feel of how the actual SAT will be like.
Khan Academy → Khan Academy offers a digital SAT practice site: https://www.khanacademy.org/digital-sat/confirmed
Eat well before taking the test. It really does help. Having energy during the test is IMPORTANT because the test usually lasts between 3-4 hours.
What To Bring?
You are asked to bring a few items to your testing location.
ID → Anything that proves someone’s identity, preferably your permit or driver's license. If not possible, bring a student ID.
Ticket → Printed ticket that students can print from the College Board website after signing up and paying for your test.
Calculator → There’s a chance that a calculator cannot be offered, and there is a section in the test that allows the use of calculators. A TI-84 or TI-34 calculator is perfect. Students will be asked to place the cover under your seat.
Pencils → Pencils are offered, but it’s always good to have your own. Bring two #2 pencils.
