All PALCS employees participate in an annual performance review (further referred to and abbreviated to "PR") process to be completed by September 1st of each school year and are intended to provide structured feedback, setting goals, and fostering open communication between employees and managers. They offer a chance to recognize achievements, identify areas for improvement, and discuss career development. While these interactions should occur far more frequently than once per year, this formal process is required and the PR's will be kept on file with the Department of Human Resources.
Please follow the steps below to complete your PR, provide the PR to your supervisor, meet with your supervisor to discuss the review and upload the PR to our employee file.
Our PR's have been shortened for the 2024-2025 school year review, so in addition to the instructions below, please see this video for further guidance and visual instruction on how to complete your PR.
Each employee will complete the following self evaluation as follows:
Click on this link. This will create a forced copy of the template.
Rename the template in the following format <First Name Last Name - Department - Position>
Select the "Share" feature and provide your Supervisor with "Editor" rights.
Employee completes the performance review sections relating to them. These include:
Employee Name, Title, Supervisor Name, Title, Date of Hire and Date of Review
"Section 1: JOB PERFORMANCE"
You are being asked to list your Primary Areas of Responsibility. This is not every "task" in your position, rather the main area(s) of responsibility that make up your position. For example, our HR Generalist I - Payroll and Recruiting's primary areas of responsibility are - Payroll, Recruiting and HRIS Management and Support. There are many, many tasks that are done to support these areas, but these would be the main three areas that would be listed, rated and details provided to support their rating.
If you require more sections than are provided, copy and paste as many additional sections as you would like.
Likewise, if you don't use the number of sections provided, that is OK as well.
Your supervisor will be able to provide their own feedback not only their own ratings, but also will confirm the primary areas of responsibility as they understand them and as outlined with your job description.
If you need a copy of your job description, please reach out to Julia Samuelson (HR Department Assistant) at jsamuelson@palcs.org.
"Section 2: CORE COMPETENCIES"
Core Competencies are the essential skills, knowledge, and behaviors that enable an employee to perform their job effectively and contribute to the organization's culture and success.
As you rate yourself in these areas, please provide examples under the "Comments" section for each comment to support your rating.
"Section 3: ADDITIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS"
This section is where you and your Supervisor both list any accomplishments or performance actions that were not covered in the previous sections.
"Section 4: GOALS / DEVELOPMENT FOR UPCOMING YEAR"
Want or need additional training in a certain area? This is where you and your supervisor would note this, along with a plan on how to accomplish it. This may also be an area to commit yourself to an improvement goal for your position.
"Section 5: ADDITIONAL OBSERVATIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS"
This would be your area for any miscellaneous comments that didn't really fit in the previous section. These comments would be for the employee and/or the Supervisor.
3. Employee Sends/Shares the link to their completed self evaluation to their manager or Supervisor. This should be done by selecting the share button in the upper right hand section of the PR document, selecting their Supervisors name, check the check box that says "Notify People" and select "Done" or copying the link and sending the link to their SV.
4. Supervisor completes their required sections and then schedules a one on one meeting between the employee and SV.
5. Employee and Supervisor meet to discuss the performance review and both sign the review.
6. Employee then uploads the performance review via the following directions at the following link:
