School begins at 8:00 A.M. and students are considered tardy after 8:05 A.M. All students arriving after 8:05 A.M. must have a parent sign them in at the school office. At that time, a pass will be issued for admittance to class. The attendance office will maintain a record of all tardies.
A tardy is excused if it is the result of extenuating circumstances that impact a large segment of the school population, i.e., road closures, inclement weather, or power failures. A tardy that is the result of a doctor’s appointment will be excused if a note from the doctor’s office is submitted.
All other tardies are considered unexcused. A student who has accumulated four (4) unexcused tardies in a quarter will be assigned to a detention.
If the student receives a fifth unexcused tardy in a quarter, the student and parent may be required to have a conference with an administrator to discuss prompt arrival at school. Continued tardies may result in an in-school suspension, and further tardies will lead to out-of-school suspensions.
