Reminder when using farm fresh eggs: Wash your hands thoroughly after handling and cook through. Once refrigerated these eggs will last for weeks!
Building off of our pilot program this summer, Paideia Urban Ag, with support from the Grassroots Growers Alliance, is providing sliding scale Fall and Spring CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) programs. Each CSA will last 10 weeks and provide a weekly box of fresh produce, milk, eggs, and bread to participating families. Additionally, we'll be provided two organic pastured chickens and bi-weekly organic local cheese over the course of the CSA.
Through the CSA program, we aim to engage the whole Paideia community to support food equity and local businesses. With a sliding scale, people pay what they can afford. When a community buys into the sliding scale CSA model, we are able to make good food accessible to everyone in the Paideia community, while giving farmers and local businesses a fair price for their products. We are first and foremost supporting our community but we are also supporting our local economy as well. During these difficult and strange times, we have each other’s back. This is community resiliency.
Consistent with the Paideia Framework of Values, this project ensures that even in a time of crisis, we are practicing our values of Social Responsibility, which tells us, “Social responsibility encompasses compassion for others, responsibility for working on solutions to the problems of our immediate community and of the larger national and international community.”
WHAT: Paideia Urban Agriculture is selling sliding scale CSA shares for boxes of vegetables, grains, animal proteins, and other goods sourced from our own farm and local businesses. Our weekly boxes will contain organic vegetables from the Grassroots Growers Alliance*, as well as produce from a Black farmer, locally-sourced and pastured eggs, milk, grains, cheese (on a bi-weekly basis), and 2 organic pastured chickens over the course of the CSA. From time to time, we will be including value-added products (jam, honey, herbs, etc.) that we think you will enjoy as well!
We cannot guarantee the boxes will be nut-free, kosher, or halal.
WHEN: The fall CSA program will run from October 8 to December 10, providing 10 total boxes of fresh, local food.
WHERE: Pick-up is Thursday 1:30-5pm at the JH Parking Lot each week.
WE DO NOT CURRENTLY HAVE ANY OPEN SHARES. PLEASE CHECK BACK AT A LATER DATE FOR OUR SPRING CSA.
