We have taken the following measures to decrease your exposure to COVID-19 virus
10 Simple Rules (ROOM CONSULTS)
1) Patients will have to complete a screening QUESTIONNAIRE (child and parent) prior to the assessment, this can be done via the phone, whats app or email. Once you have inquired about a consult, one of our friendly staff will be in touch with you about this and guide you through the process.
2) You will also be issued with a LETTER to allow you to travel to and fro from home for the consult. This once again can be sent to you via email or whats app. Our staff will ask for some additional details so we can complete this for you. Please note in cases of an emergency a letter is not needed, and you are to go to your nearest casualty for assistance.
3) All first time consults are encouraged to come for a comprehensive consult. Further follow ups can thereafter be arranged as TELE-MEDICINE consults, only in cases were traveling long distances is still prohibited, ie patients from Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Mozambique, etc.
4) On the day of the consult, ONLY ONE PARENT AND CHILD will allowed in for the consult. Although both parents will be allowed to travel, hospital rules only allow for a single parent to accompany the child to limit the numbers in the hospital, and to also allow for social distancing practices. However provision will be made for special circumstances, ie patients with severe disability, in wheelchairs, etc. We do however encourage parents to please let us know before the day of the consult, so the travel letters can be amended to accommodate you and your child.
5) Unfortunately NO TOYS are allowed in the practice, for infection control measures. We are just as sad about this as the children would be. However FREE WiFi is available at the practice and parents are encouraged to bring their own toys if needs be. Please inquire about the password at the front desk.
6) Prior to entering the consulting rooms, we will have to a TEMPERATURE check on you and your child. If the temperature is above 37.5 degrees - we will need asses the child and will be managed accordingly.
7) Also note that you will not be able to enter the consulting room without a MASK. If you do not have one, you can purchase one from the rooms, for yourself and child. Please see below for more details.
8) Please adhere to your SOCIAL DISTANCING measures, that have been clearly marked on the floor, and with the new seating plan in the rooms.
9) We will also SANITIZE your hands before and after the consult, as per national guidelines. We also sterilize all surfaces before and after your consult.
10) Our staff are also DRESSED UP for the occasion. We will be in mask, face shield and gowns, for your protection - so please don't be alarmed
ELECTIVE PROCEDURES:
We are now OPEN for elective procedures, that includes MRI and our Spasticity Clinic.
We will be in touch with all parents that could not have their elective procedures done due to lock down. We have not forgotten about you - we were waiting till it was safe - and we now have a plan just for you.
All patients will need a swab for COVID-19 done prior to admission, a form will can be emailed or whats app to you - this can easily be done at your local Lancert Laboratory.
Consent forms will also need to be completed and returned before the procedure, this can be emailed or whats app to you.
We will once again do all the paper work for you - to make the process seamless and effortless as possible.
As per the consults in the rooms, only one parent will be allowed with the child during the admission, but both parents may travel with the child to hospital.
Letters will be drafted to allow for parents to travel to and fro from their homes and the hospital.
Parents are to wear a mask at all times
Temperature checks will be done upon admission to the hospital, as well as a screening questionnaire
