Week 2 Reflections

Your learning process in relation to your Week 1 Learning Goals:

• What were your learning intentions for the week and did you follow through on those or did you get sidetracked?

My learning intentions for this week were to explore the two communities I decided to join and to see what I might find in those communities about deeper learning approaches and the two learning theories I am focusing on (elaboration theory and classical and operant conditioning).

I found that one community I joined, Instructional Design Central had LOTS of interesting stuff. Yes, I got sidetracked, not in the least because I accessed the community through Facebook (instant distraction!). I am happy to say that I used the heck out of Diigo to bookmark all kinds of articles and blog posts I want to return to--this blog about content curation was fascinating!. I also saved links to Instructional Design Templates (some free, some for pay). This is in direct support of my stated learning goal to develop my skills and understanding regarding instructional design and development process.

I also spent some time refreshing and deepening my understanding of the ADDIE model on the IDC site. It was good!

My CoP involvement:

• My interactions with the CoP have been mostly exploratory. I want to spend more time this coming week familiarizing myself with the layout and features of their respective sites. I have not been involved in any other CoP, at least not formally, so this is all new to me. So far, I have been interacting with the materials created by the other members, not with anyone directly, so that might be a way to deepen my experience.
