Our Mission
Mission Statement:
To reduce mass consumerism, waste, and ensure everyone has access to essential resources.
Every year hundreds of thousands of pounds of trash go straight to the landfill in the United States (EPA, 2022). Yet countless people still don't have the means to obtain the resources they need. Finders Keepers Free Store hopes to be a small part of the solution to this problem by giving away old or unwanted items for free. Through the nature of our store, we strive to break the many barriers that keep people from a more sustainable, confident, and healthy life.
Our Three Goals
Create a More Sustainable System
By circulating items that would have otherwise gone into the landfills we are thereby reducing the amount of products people consume and the energy or resources needed to make them.
Our program increases the longevity of items allowing their lifecycles to continue long after one consumer.
Less waste ending up in landfills means less pollutants entering our ecosystems.
Give People the Access to Learn and Thrive
We provide easy open access to school supplies, textbooks, organizers, and many other tools to learn.
We have menstrual products, contraceptives, and other hygiene products that may be inaccessible to many.
We help take the stress out of balancing academics, time, money, work, and personal life to get what you need.
Inspire Change
We are constantly striving to connect sustainable habits to people's everyday lives.
We hope others will be inspired to rethink how they consume and examine ways to help those in their communities through similar programs.
In our store, there are many examples of how to repurpose items in new and creative ways.
