The First Aid for Dogs and Cats online course teaches you the essential skills to care for your pets in emergencies.
Recognizing Normal Vital Signs: Discover how to check your pet's heart rate, breathing, and temperature. You'll know what's normal so you can spot when something's wrong.
Handling Breathing and Cardiac Emergencies: Learn life-saving skills like dog CPR and cat CPR. Be prepared to respond if your pet ever chokes or has trouble breathing.
Managing Wounds and Bleeding: Whether it's a small cut or a more serious injury, you'll learn how to clean wounds, stop bleeding, and bandage your pet safely.
Helping During Seizures: Understand what seizures look like and how to keep your pet safe during one. You'll also learn when it's time to take your pet to the vet.
Preventative Care: Keep your pets healthy with tips on preventing sickness and preparing for emergencies. Learn how to ensure your pets live long, happy lives.

In the First Aid for Opioid Poisoning online course, you will become knowledgeable and confident in how to respond to an opioid poisoning emergency, including how to administer intranasal and intramuscular naloxone.
What will you learn?
You will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of opioid poisoning.
What naloxone is and how naloxone works to reverse an opioid poisoning.
Understand how opioids and naloxone affect the body.
Explore ways to reduce the influence of stigma around opioid poisoning.
Learn how to respond confidently to an opioid poisoning emergency.
How to administer intranasal and intramuscular naloxone.
Who should take the First Aid for Opioid Poisoning course?
Anyone 16 years of age and older. This course has no prerequisites.
Canadian Red Cross Online-Based Learning
Self-directed: Learn at your own pace by working through the training materials online.
Duration: Approximately 1 hour online.
Knowledge check on each module: You will need to pass the test at the end of each module with a score of at least 70%. You will be able to review the module content and try as many times as necessary to complete the course.
Advance your career with a certification
Successfully completing the course will earn you a Red Cross certificate of completion of First Aid for Opioid Poisoning.

Two Psychological First Aid courses are available online to learn at your own pace: Self-Care and Caring for Others. In both these courses, learn the impact of stress, trauma, and grief while developing useful tools for handling difficult situations. These online courses are quick, accessible and practical, equipping you with skills you can use in daily life.
Complete both the Self-Care and Caring for Others courses for a well-rounded approach to psychological first aid and wellness. At the end of these courses, you will complete a knowledge evaluation and receive an electronic certificate of completion.

A note to participants: Learn at your own pace by working through the course materials independently online. You may leave the course at any time and resume where you left off. The duration will vary depending on the individual learner and their prior knowledge of the subject matter.
