Growing up in Columbus, Danielle Nickerson has spent her life helping others in her community. Starting in elementary school, Danielle has continued to be an active volunteer for several organizations, including Foundation for Youth, Human Services, and Advocates for Children. Danielle uses her passions to help further the organizations' missions by bringing awareness and visibility to their programming.
Danielle started her career as an employee of Bartholomew County School Corporation, serving as an early reading interventionist until earning her teaching degree in 2013. Drawn to children with difficult home situations, Danielle transitioned from teaching to social work in 2014 and earned her Masters of Human Service Counseling in March of 2016. Over four years, Danielle served in multiple roles, maintained positive outcomes for her clients, and served families and youth with active Department of Child Services cases and teens on probation earning her an Employee Excellence Award in 2018.
Currently the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Toyota Material Handling, Danielle oversees and facilitates corporate social responsibility initiatives, including facilitating volunteer opportunities for Associates, establishing and maintaining community partnerships, and overseeing Toyota’s corporate giving budget. Her passion for helping the community assisted her in establishing a formal volunteer program at Toyota and aided in increasing engagement among the company's Associates. Danielle lives in Columbus with her husband, Tyler, children, Isabella (13) and Evan (3), and two dogs. Outside of volunteering, Danielle enjoys reading, watching movies, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and attending sporting events.
