Rio Mesa World Languages Department

As a part of the International Baccalaureate Programme at Rio Mesa High School, our goal is to facilitate the creation of an international mindset and open mindedness in our students. We offer courses that are part of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). From the MYP, we teach Language Acquisition courses in Spanish (Levels 1 and 2) and French (Levels 1 and 2) and we provide language and literature courses which are ideal for heritage speakers. The courses offered through the DP are Spanish B SL (Standard Level), Spanish B HL (Higher Level), and French B SL. The AP Spanish: Language and Culture course will be offered only during the 2020-2021 school year. In the MYP, our main focus is developing speaking and listening skills. Along with the MYP skills, in the DP courses our main focus is developing and expanding the writing and reading skills.
