When can I apply?
Applications are opened up virtually to current Pacifica students near the start of the second semester. The application page will have the application available with details on the due date and other details. Keep an eye out on Triton Talk, second semester, for the announcement on when all the academies will be opening their applications!
Do I have to go to a zero period class?
Yes! Zero period starts at 7:28am. We have mandatory zero period sophomore and junior year. Senior you you will not have to attend zero period!
I want to take honors and AP classes. Can I do that and still be in the academy?
SOMETIMES, but it can be difficult. We encourage you to take AP and honors if you like, but it depends on when those classes are offered on the master schedule. Often times, academy students cannot take AP and honors because (for example) your cooking class may be locked into first period, and the only English AP course may be offered only at that same time and you will not be able to.
Can I be in two academies at Pacifica at the same time?
No. Students can only be in one academy.
How much does it cost to be in the academy?
Nothing! You are not required to spend any money!
Do you cook a lot?
Yes! We have multiple recipes we make for each unit!
Do you eat the food that you make?
Yes! The food you and your team make in class, you get to eat! However, Food we make for catering events goes to our customers!
Can I do sports/clubs if I am in the academy?
Yes! We encourage all of our students to participate in sports, clubs, and other extracurricular activities! Check with your counselor to make sure that your schedule lines up with the period that your activities are offered!
Do I have to go into the culinary industry or a culinary college when I graduate?
Nope! Our goal is to make sure that you are fully prepared for the workforce, culinary school, or 4-year college when you graduate. Some students realize that food is their favorite hobby, but they want a different career. We consider this to be a success to!
The good news is that you can! Students joining an academy can transfer to that school! You will need to fill out the intra-district/interdistrict transfer form on our district website. You must be joining the academy and must stay in the academy for the duration of your time at Pacifica. To access the website and to find the form click HERE. Check the deadline to apply!
