In alignment with IB’s emphasis on being principled, Del Sol High School expects all students to demonstrate the following:
Honesty: Students must be honest in their academic work. Any attempt to gain unfair advantage, such as using someone else’s work, including AI-generated content, without proper citation, violates this principle.
Trust: A principled student builds trust with teachers and peers by completing work that is authentic and reflects their own efforts.
Fairness: Acting fairly means following the same rules as everyone else and not engaging in actions like cheating, collusion, or unauthorized use of technology, including AI, during assessments.
Respect: A principled learner respects the intellectual contributions of others by correctly citing sources and recognizing the importance of original thought.
Responsibility: Students are accountable for their own academic journey and must ensure that all assignments, including summative assessments, reflect their own knowledge and skills without inappropriate use of technology.
At Del Sol High School, we believe students learn best when they are active participants in the assessment process. Assessment isn’t just something done to students—it’s something they learn from and grow through.
Students will reflect on their progress and set goals to improve throughout the learning process.
They will have regular opportunities to check their own understanding through self-assessment and reflect on what they’ve learned and what they still need to practice.
Teachers will provide clear feedback during learning so students can revise or improve their work before completing summative tasks.
Students will sometimes give and receive peer feedback, helping them understand the expectations more clearly and learn from each other.
Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, such as time management, communication, and organization, will be practiced and assessed alongside academic content.
Teachers will share rubrics and expectations ahead of time so students know exactly what success looks like and how they will be assessed.
We are committed to the belief that being multilingual enriches students' academic and personal development. Many of our students are already multilingual, and we strive to support both their English language acquisition and heritage language maintenance.
