Jazz Ensemble is a 7th/8th grade performing arts elective where students get to hone their skills in song & dance! Students participate in a singing/dance audition at the end of each school year to be selected for this year-long elective.
Curriculum includes but is not limited to music notation, sight-reading on the solfege system, and singing repertoire in 4-5 part harmonies. Students also experience a study in choreography with our dance instructor, Mrs. Karen Sanford.
Jazz Ensemble also auditions to participate in an annual Disney Performing Arts Workshop & Community Arts Showcase. If selected, students visit the Disneyland Resort & Parks to sight-read and record vocal music from Disney films, learn parade dance routines, and perform on the Disney Park stage.
Students in this ensemble act as the music ambassadors of our school district, representing at numerous venues throughout the year including but not limited to our surrounding elementary schools, senior centers, and the Orange County Department of Education Teacher of the Year Awards.
