Learning Manifesto

You can't be the gardener without the seeds (children), tools & soil (staff), and rain & sunshine (laughter) - Karen Fitzsimmons

STEAM Lets all Learners Shine...in the Right Environment

My passion is to create environments that foster growth, maturity, and confidence in every learner (young or old). We must provide nurturing environments where all learners are valued. The COVA (Choice,Ownership, Voice, and Authenticity) approach enhances learning through open and creative environments. Being presented with the opportunity to use the COVA approach in my e-Portfolio has provided an open environment for me to be creative. The freedom of choice and voice have stimulated a lot of thinking, research, and much learning. "Owning" my e-Portfolio will heighten the probability of my persistence in continuing the adventure past my studies at Lamar. The most valuable lesson I have learned in the Ed Tech/DLL program thus far is making time for deeper reflections through the use of the COVA approach. I believe traditional teaching methods must change if we are going to engage learners and grow their curiosity. My learning manifesto along with the two related videos below explain my aim at mending traditional teaching methods.
