The key for a successful waxing is exfoliate, mousturise and wax regularly. If the skin break out or get ingrown hair, use antibacterial lotion and follow our skin routine recommendations. With persistence it will eventually clear, hairs will diminish and grow thinner.
BEFORE TREATMENT
Do make sure your hair is at least ¼ cm long. If you have been shaving, wait a minimum of 2 weeks for the hair to grow out
Do let us know if you have consumed or applied Accutane, Roaccutane, Retin A, Vitamin B, AHA or any other topical or oral medication which may cause issues with the treatments we offer
Do exfoliate your skin to help to lift any ingrown hairs 24-48 hrs before your waxing appointment
Do try to have a lukewarm shower before your appointment, as it helps to open the pores and makes it easier and less painful while removing the hairs. Just be mindful of water temperature as hot water will make your skin more sensitive and prone to peeling during waxing
Do advise us (preferably 48 hrs ahead) if you have any injury or for any reason need the treatment to be done slower as we need to allocate extra time for treatments to be completed on time
AFTER TREATMENT
Do wear loose clothing after waxing to allow your skin to breath
Do have a cold shower after waxing, it helps to calm the skin, any redness and closes the pore
Do apply a post waxing antibacterial lotion on the waxed area (morning and night) for 2-3 days to sooth and nourish the skin, preventing break out or ingrown hair
Do moisturise daily to keep your skin hydrated and soft
Do apply a cold compress and 100% aloe vera gel to the treated area if you find your skin is sensitive to heat, is looking red, swollen or have reacted with the wax
Do apply antihistamine lotion if you had an allergic reaction to the wax. If applied directly after treatment, the discomfort can be greatly reduced
Do wait 3-5 days to exfoliate your skin. Waxing exfoliate and removes all dead skin so any exfoliation sooner after waxing can irritate the skin and cause break outs or ingrown hair
Do exfoliate your skin 2-3 times a week with a proper exfoliation glove. Use it in the shower by applying the antibacterial body wash or scrub on the glove and gently exfoliate all body parts using circular motions against the hair growth, especially dry skin which is prone to get ingrown hair. Exfoliation helps to lift any ingrown hairs to the surface and remove dead skin cells, helping skin to regenerate new cells keeping your skin smooth and glowing
Do book your appointments 4-6 weeks apart. The hair grows in multiple cycles so to get the best results we need to weaken each stage by removing new growth as it comes through
WITHIN 12 HOURS OF TREATMENT
Don’t apply deodorant, make up (mineral only allowed) for 12 hrs after your waxing appointment
Don’t trim the hair before your waxing appointment as it can be very short to wax and cause to be more painful. Don’t worry, we trim the hair for you :)
Don’t have a hot shower, exfoliate, wear tight clothing, or work out excess sweating as these activities irritates the skin
Don’t moisturise on the day of your appointment as it makes difficult to grab the hair
Don’t pick at ingrown hairs. The bacteria found in an infected follicle combined with inflammation weakens the pore lining. If you squeeze ingrown hairs it could cause for greater inflammation, infect surrounding pores, and slow the healing process. When you book your appointment, mention ingrown concerns to allow more time for extractions or recommendation of proper care
Don’t shave between appointments as it distorts the hair growth cycle, also you will often see short hairs in between and won’t see a reduction of hair. The goal of consistent hair removal is to remove the root of the hair so it grows back new making it softer, finer, and fewer in number. Shaving will upset appointment times allowing the root to grow strong and making waxing more painful. Try to be consistent and wax regularly on a monthly basis
Don’t come to your waxing appointment straight from exercising. Even after showering, your body is still burning calories, your skin will be sweating and hot, which can cause skin to be lifted and taken off while waxing
Don’t book a waxing appointment if you have a sunburn, chapped, irritated, broken skin, open wound or fresh tattoo on the treatment area
Don’t book a waxing appointment if you have had a recent surgery or injury that won't allow you to move your body around as we need to turn a few different positions to complete treatments
WITHIN 24-48 HOURS OF TREATMENT
Don’t swim, sunbathe, utilise saunas and sweat excessively, as these activities irritate the skin
Don’t sunbathe 24 hours before or after treatment. This may dehydrate the skin prior to treatment and cause skin to lift. After treatment, with increased circulation, sun exposure may increase heat sensitivity, cause discomfort and skin discoloration
