We are a team of three seventh graders, Frankie Croteau, Alex Chin and Sophia Hesseltine. We attend Hillcrest School and we created Appetizing Alternatives for the Chabot Design 4 Change project. Our assignment is to find a way to change the world by conducting research and sharing our findings on an important topic. Healthy eating is an aspiration of ours, so we decided to make a website centered around giving parents and kids healthy recipes as alternatives to sugary snacks.
Our mission is to influence parents to make healthy choices for their kids and to give kids a new attitude on healthy eating. We assembled a bunch of healthy recipes that are similar to some of the junky ones we know and love. Parents will enjoy making them, knowing that they are healthier options, and kids will enjoy eating them because they taste good! We know that sugar and other junk foods can seriously harm your health. Too much can cause heart disease, diabetes, and other issues. We also know that eating healthy doesn't always sound so attractive. It's hard to convince yourself to abstain from bad-for-you treats because they're just so delicious. That is why we wanted to create things that were as similar as possible to the real thing. We hope you like our recipes and try making your own!
