Our Curriculum

Our curriculum rationale statement: "We have developed a challenging, engaging and progressive curriculum which has a clear focus on the qualities and potential of a rural school within the National Park."

The staff worked to develop a 2 year rolling programme from Nursery up to P7.

Curriculum for Excellence is organised into 8 curriculum areas.

Literacy , Numeracy , Health and Well being , Social Studies, Science, Technologies, Expressive Arts and R.M.E.

In Gartocharn staff worked to develop a 2 year rolling programme from Nursery up to P7. They created a curriculum which grouped together "experiences and outcomes" so as to create meaningful learning experiences. Sometimes the experiences and outcomes are taught together as part of a Inter Disciplinary Learning topic such as "Food and Fashion" or sometimes they are taught as individual stand alone subjects.

Below you can find copies of our current curriculum maps. These change regularly as we respond to the interests and needs of the children. However, they give you a flavour of what we do at each stage.

Nursery
