Our schools have been an important part of the Waretown community for generations. From the Little Red School House to our current schools today, education has always been a priority and an investment in the future of our community.  

Today, we provide a quality education to more than 500 of Waretown's youngest learners across our two schools. After they graduate from sixth grade, Ocean Township School District continues to fund our students' education, as they move on to Southern Regional for grades 7 through 12. 

Funding History

State funding cuts have challenged our district. Since the implementation of the S2 school funding law, Ocean Township has lost approximately $5.2 million in state aid  since the start of the S2 Funding Formula. At the same time, we have faced rising costs associated with healthcare, transportation, utilities, special education, and a rising student population. 

Despite these challenges, the district has worked diligently to control costs and find efficiencies, including: 

• Eliminating positions 

• Reducing staff 

• Changing student programming 

These prudent fiscal choices have allowed us to prioritize our classrooms and preserve the core educational programs our students need.  

However, this hasn’t left funds in the budget to address infrastructure needs within our aging school facilities. That’s why we are asking voters to consider a bond referendum on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Read more about the project details here.
