Static Images - This is me - Week 7

The students have worked hard to create a static image that represents themselves. Annoyingly putting images into Sites sometimes causes them to flip. Before you add these to your blog have a look at a video the shows you how to fix this issue on the following link.

How to fix rotated images

Cracking the Safe - Week 8

On Friday the class was challenged to find clues, solve them and open a number of coded padlocks and an electronic safe.

The pictures show the students as they sought clues and worked together to solve them. Their reward for succeeding was finally found in the safe when the final clue was cracked.

Canterbury's River of Rock - Week 5

Watch the video to see what these 9T writers were inspired by.

"They flow freely with the water, the bank guiding them." (Pounamu)

"It looks like concrete coming out of a truck." ( Olivia)

"The motion of the rocks slipping down is extremely fast. It's almost as if you want to jump in and slide down with it." "I want to see one these moments in my life." (Tia)

"This slide would be an awesome slide with a boogie board, but it would probably kill you." (Lana)

"...the roar of rocks gets louder. Drowning out every other noise so that you can't even hear yourself think. You would think that it is a river, but that is where you are wrong. It's actually just a rock slide. Looking at it in in person is overwhelming, the way the rocks roll and slide give it the effect of water. Bits of trees and whole shrubs are caught in the flow." (Kate)

"As I was out for my morning run I came across what looked like a river of rocks. I stood there in confusion. It was satisfying to watch, almost like watching sugar being poured out of a bag. As it slid down the bank it looked like you could swim in it." (Chantelle)

"It looks like liquid concrete flowing ever so gently and smoothly. It looks like a Crusher drink from KFC." (Andrew)

"I question myself as to where it finishes and then if anyone is going to get hit. I'm tempted to start running after it to warn people before it was too late, but it's too fast and I will never catch up." (Isabel)

"There was an urge to just jump in and see what would happen from all the photographers and people there. I struggled to focus on one area as it moved so fast and roughly. It was like they were being pulled down to something or they were racing to the Finish Line. Even though the ground rumbled and the air was dusty, there was something relaxing about it that I couldn't quite pinpoint." (Kaia)
