Welcome to Chill Makers, where there are no rules for creativity! Each week, you’ll receive a collection of random materials and a creative challenge: what can you make with them? Use your imagination, experiment, get a little messy, and turn ordinary materials into something completely your own. No grades, no pressure—just create, chill, and see where your imagination takes you!

Ever wonder how scientists develop their own questions and go find the answers? Now’s your chance to find out for yourself! The new Science Research STAR is all about hands-on, hands-dirty science: asking your own questions, developing hypotheses, running experiments, communicating your findings and discovering things that spark your curiosity. In this program, you’ll have the opportunity to work with high school mentors from the OHS Science Research program. Through these experiences you’ll develop a ‘think like a scientist’ mindset and have fun while conducting investigations and learning research skills that you can apply to your own interests. If you’re curious, love asking ‘why’ and ‘what if,’ or just want to try something new, this STAR is for you!

Come join us for some fun, friendly competition, and card games with friends! Whether you already know how to play or you’re learning something new, everyone is welcome. We’ll play a variety of games, learn new ones, and enjoy some time together after school. No experience necessary—just come ready to play and have fun!

Students will build critical-thinking, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making skills through a variety of board and card games. Games will encourage communication, collaboration, and positive peer interactions in a relaxed environment. Students will practice good sportsmanship, patience, and perseverance while learning how to navigate both winning and losing. The STAR will also provide opportunities for students to take leadership roles by teaching games and supporting their peers. 

Bilingual Book Buddies is a cozy, relaxed, and welcoming space where students can escape into a great book...in English, Spanish, or both! Students will have uninterrupted time to read what they want, while building confidence and strengthening their reading skills, especially in the language they want to practice more. Along the way, students may choose to read with a buddy, talk and laugh about their books, share recommendations, and get support when they need it. Whether you’re already a book lover or just looking for a comfortable place to discover your next favorite read, Bilingual Book Buddies is a place to read, connect, and grow!

The After-School Nature STAR gives students the opportunity to explore the outdoors, discover seasonal changes, and participate in hands-on projects connected to the natural world throughout the year. Students will explore the school’s woods and surrounding environment, learn strategies for identifying plants and animals, investigate seasonal phenomena, and most importantly, have fun spending time outside. 

A welcoming after school STAR designed specifically for students to unwind, connect with others, and learn simple, practical ways to manage stress and emotions. The transition from a structured school day to after school hours can be tough. Our club bridges that gap by offering a supportive, judgment-free space where students can shift from academic pressure to personal wellness. Through a thoughtful mix of interactive and quiet activities, students will have the chance to relax, recharge, and build positive coping skills that last a lifetime.  To ensure a small, personal, and safe environment for everyone, registration is strictly capped at 10 students.
