Bulletin Board Artists - Ms. Sutton

Lets make our hallways beautiful, positive, and artistic! Work with your friends to design and create boards that show how amazing the students at AMD are every week! Bring your creative and artistic talents.

Cursive Writing - Ms. Lonce

Cursive writing has become a thing of the past but is a skill many kids are interested in. This STAR will allow students to learn the craft. Students will also have opportunities to practice to write and read cursive print.

Drone STAR - Mr. Molina and Ms. Fonte

Drone STAR gives students the opportunity to learn about and fly drones on a weekly basis. In this STAR, students will learn about the impact drones have had on our society. Students will go from learning the parts of a drone to learning how to safely pilot them. As they become more advanced, students will ultimately learn to race drones and/or code them for autonomous flight.

The Algebra Workshop - Ms. Franklin

The Algebra Workshop is a supportive space designed exclusively for students enrolled in 8th grade Algebra. The workshop focuses on building confidence, strengthening problem-solving skills, and deepening understanding of key concepts through guided practice and discussion. Students have the opportunity to work on class material, review challenging topics, and explore strategies for success in Algebra. The goal of the workshop is to help students grow as mathematicians while preparing them for future high school math courses. (Must attend both Tues and Thurs)

Got homework? Come to homework STAR where we will provide a quiet space and help from a specialized AMD teacher.

Jewelry Making - Ms. Dorian

We will be crafting with all kinds of cool materials-like resin and flowers- to design unique jewelry and keychains. each student will work independently to create a one-of-a-kind gift for themselves or someone close to them. this is all about students letting their imagination run wild and bringing their creative ideas to life!

Knitting STAR - Ms. Meza

Like to be creative. In this STAR, you will have the opportunity to create using yarn. You will be able to learn how to knit, crochet and macrame.

Let's Play! Board Games & Cards - Ms. Ward

Roll the dice, flip the cards, and get ready for some after-school fun! In this STAR, we’ll play a mix of classic and modern board games that test your strategy, teamwork, and creativity. Whether you love quick party games, intense showdowns, or cooperative adventures, there’s something here for everyone. Come relax, make new friends, and let the games begin!

Mindful Journal STAR - Ms. Holmes

Welcome to the Mindful Journaling Club! This is a chill, no-pressure space where you can write, draw, doodle, vent, dream, and just be.

🧠 Got thoughts bouncing around your head? Let’s write them out.

🎨 Feeling artsy? Decorate your journal and make it your own.

😶‍🌫️ Need to unwind? We start with calming vibes and breathing games.

✍️ Like writing, but hate being graded? There’s no homework here.

🤫 Don’t want to share? You don’t have to — your journal = your space.

Every week, we’ll explore fun and meaningful prompts, listen to chill music, decorate pages with cool supplies, and talk if you want to. It’s like a brain break with glitter pens and no drama. Snacks, stickers, good vibes, and your own journal included. All you need to bring is you. ***If you sign up for this STAR you must attend both Tuesdays and Thursdays***

MBK - Mr. Prando, Mr. Graves, Mr. Aryee and Mr. Knowles

My Brother's Keeper (MBK) is a group that focuses on both self-improvement and collaboration among those within the group. We support young men in the STAR and introduce topics such as financial literacy, social interaction, academic excellence and personal growth, among other topics.

Origami STAR - Ms. Pimentel

Come learn and practice the art of paper folding. Create animals and shapes with colorful paper!

Spanish Sigma - Ms. Wenk

Spanish Sigma is a support STAR designed to help students strengthen their Spanish reading and writing skills with guidance from a certified bilingual teacher. Whether students need extra practice or assistance with Spanish homework, this STAR offers a supportive space to build confidence and improve their language abilities.

The Backpack STAR - Ms. Guardino and Ms. Hudson

Living in two homes or with a single parent can be both a challenge and an opportunity. Whether it’s switching between houses, juggling different routines, or helping out more at home, staying organized is key to feeling calm and in control. From packing essentials to managing schedules and schoolwork, simple strategies can make life easier. With the right tools and support, you can thrive and create a sense of home—wherever you are.

The Jazz Experience - Mr. Barnes

This Jazz experience is for students who already play an instrument, but are not yet ready to join the Jazz Band. Students should speak to Mr. Morrison or Mr. Barnes about which group to register for.

World Cultures - Ms. Micela and Ms. Kane

World Culture STAR is a fun and interactive space where students explore cultures from around the world. Each month, we focus on a different country or region—learning about its traditions, food, music, holidays, and languages. Through hands-on activities, discussions, and sometimes films or videos, students get to experience global cultures, celebrate diversity, and connect with new friends. Everyone is welcome to join, share, and learn in a friendly, open environment!

Kaleidoscope Kids STAR - Ms. Ofner and Ms. Riccardi

Students of all walks will come together to learn about others, share stories, socialize and build empathy.

Tennis STAR - Ms. McCabe

Get ready to swing into action! Tennis STAR offers a fun and supportive environment for middle schoolers to learn and improve their tennis skills, whether you're a beginner or have some experience. Come join us for some friendly competition and lots of court time!

STAR Soccer 6

Get ready to score some goals! STAR Soccer 6 is an after-school program designed for 6th graders to have fun, learn soccer skills, and play as a team. All skill levels are welcome!

Star Fitness

Start something new this Spring. Sign up for Star Fitness. Join with a friend and together learn about the Fitness equipment in the Fitness Center and how to use it safely. Be Inspired to actively participate on the equipment, set goals and have fun while getting fit. You will be using the Bike machine, Row machine, Elliptical, Weights, plyo box, tension bands and much more.

It will be held every Thursday from 2:45 - 3:45.
