Resources & Support

The following supports and resources are available at Surfside Academy:

For more information about any of these resources, please contact your School Counselor!

College supports:

  • MiraCosta Ambassadors: MiraCosta student ambassadors visit local schools, meet with prospective students, and provide information regarding the programs and services offered at MiraCosta College. We get students excited about attending MiraCosta and assist them with the application and enrollment process. We also strive to increase the enrollment of underrepresented students.

Social emotional supports:

  • McAlister Institute: McAlister Institute Teen Recovery Centers (TRCs) provide substance abuse treatment, recovery, and education for adolescents who are using, misusing, or abusing alcohol and/or other drugs. Each program accommodates teens’ school schedules, offering after-school treatment, individual and group counseling, and structured recovery activities to help teens develop the tools they need to stay alcohol- and drug-free. Programs are conveniently located for easy access and now offer satellite locations at schools throughout the County.

  • Palomar Family Counseling: PFCS works in partnership with many school districts in the North San Diego County area, providing School-Based Counseling Services to children and teens who are showing signs of emotional difficulties and problem behaviors. Services are provided at the school site where we can easily collaborate with school personnel as well as reduce transportation challenges for families. Services are tailored to meet the needs of the school and may include group and individual counseling, parent education, and classroom presentations. Our counselors work with students on issues such as anger management, impulse control, bullying, family issues, grief and loss, and substance abuse.

  • Transformational Consulting provides mentoring and support services for OUSD middle and high school students. Please contact Paul Paopao at paul.paopao@oside.us for more information.

Social services supports:
