Dance II offers the intermediate dance student a more in depth study of the following dance forms: jazz, modern, ballet, multicultural, musical theater, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary with a great emphasis placed on the development of technique and skills. Combinations are more challenging than in the Dance I course and the class requires participation in activities outside the class period. Students have many opportunities to choreograph and perform a wide variety of dances and different dance styles for a wide variety of audiences. All students are involved with the production of the annual dance performances - Homecoming Half-Time show in October, the Dance I/II show in December and the Dance II/III show in May. Expectations of student behavior, effort, achievement, and performance are very high.
Dance II is open to 9-12 graders though audition only. Students must also have taken and passed Applied Fitness Concepts. Dance I is not required to audition for Dance II but highly recommended (especially for someone with very limited dance technique training). Dance II can be taken for Physical Education or Visual/Performing Arts Credit.
