Science. Technology. Engineering. Art. Math
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. It is a big push in today's classroom and brings the most excitement in the classroom. In my room I have a MakerSpace area that the students use daily to go through the steps of the Engineer Design Process. I have come to love this process because it's ideas that can be transfer to almost any other subject. If you ever have any questions or need more help on bringing STEAM activities to your home please contact me at any time.
To see the Next Generation Science Standards that we follow please click on the link below.
Here are some pictures of our very popular MakerSpace. If you are ever interested in donating items to keep our area thriving we would will any and all supplies you can think of!
For more specific ideas of items we need please see the supply/donation section of my website.
In class we are not only learning to build and invent, but also to use our critical thinking skills when creating. We use the Engineer Design Process during TinkerTable time. If you ever want to use these same ideas at home it's a great way for your child to begin to recognize their thoughts and how to push through challenges in work being done.

Every three weeks we focus on another artist and replicate their form of art in our own way. This year we will be studying:
Henri Matisse
Paul Klee
Jackson Pollock
George Seurat
Van Gogh
Berthe Morisot
Antoni Gaudi
Rembrandt
Leonardo DaVinci
Wassily Kandinsky
We always start our study with a video from Madi and Dada to learn more about the artist. If you are ever interested in your child learning more about other artists you can find their videos on YouTube.
Every week students have a new challenge to use basic building materials such as LEGOS, Lincoln Logs, and more to meet the building objective.
