Learning Beyond Paper, Pencils, and Screen Time

I know it's hard, but try to limit screen/TV time as much as possible.

Take the time during our time away to find fun play experiences to do with your child AND for your child to gain independence and do on their own.

Below are some ideas to do at home.

I would love to add to the list so if you are doing something fun at home email me and let me know!

      • Jump in rain puddles

      • Make "Kindness Rocks" and hide them in the neighborhood for others to find

      • Call/Facetime a family member. Ask them questions about their childhood. Connect to others on a deeper level.

      • Learn to tie your shoes

      • Learn to cook or make simple things such as a sandwich.

      • Play with toys

      • Build with Legos

      • Play board games (Don't Break the Ice is a very desired game in our classroom)

      • Play card games (they know how to play what many adults would know as the card game "war")

      • Take a walk around the neighborhood and play ISpy

      • Learn to ride a two wheel bike

      • Make a mud pie

      • Build a blanket fort

      • Make something out of a cardboard box

      • Learn your address

      • Learn your phone number

      • Play hide and go seek

      • Go on a bug hunt

      • Play catch (even with a rolled up sock inside on those rainy days)

      • Send mail to others

      • Play with your pet

      • Look online for a hands on science experiment

      • Make slime

      • Make ramps for marbles or cars by cutting cardboard toliet paper/paper towel roll inserts and taping them together
