GameStorm is always looking for new volunteers!
These volunteers fall into three general groups:
Attendee Volunteers
You are coming to to GameStorm as a paid attendee but have some free time to help out!
Staff
As a Staff member, you commit to helping at GameStorm for 12+ hours over the course of the convention. With that commitment comes a Staff Membership and a better rate on hotel room nights.
Convention Committee
As a member of ConCom you are involved with the planning and organization of GameStorm over the course of the year.
How do I volunteer for GameStorm?
We are a 100% volunteer-run con, and we would love for you to join us! If you have any questions that are not answered here, please contact us volunteers(at)gamestorm.org
The following departments are looking for more help:
Info desk: serve as a friendly face helping people figure out the con.
Con Suite: help sustain your fellow staffers.
Registration: get the badges to the people. This is our biggest volunteer need.
Library: keep the games library orderly and help people check out games.
Logistics: help set up and take down the con on Wednesday and Sunday (we particularly need more folks for Sunday!). Great for people who like physical jobs and working for con but not during it.
Play and Win (PAW) Program: help run the raffle-like system where people can play games for a chance to win a copy of them.
Swag Door Guards: sit at the door and ensure that there are no more than the allowed number of shoppers.
Swag desk: sit at the desk, explain what Swag is, accept payments and restock supplies.
Minis Painting Class Assistant: assist with setting up class, getting students settled with painting supplies, and answering questions.
Don't see your department here? This is just a list of the departments who are recruiting and/or managing their schedules here on the website. If you are already in contact with another department and you're not looking to pickup more shifts, you do not need to submit an application. Just make sure your department head has your info for getting your badge made.
If you feel ready for taking on even bigger responsibilities for the con, such as being an assistant department head, please email volunteers(at)gamestorm.org and let us know about your experience, skills, and interests.
Here are the steps to get started volunteering:
Go to our Application page
Fill out the application and submit.
One of our volunteer staff members will approve your application or reach out for clarifications.
Then you will either be put in contact with your department head to figure out your schedule, or you will be able to browse and select available shifts on TTE (depending on the department).
To pick shifts (for departments using Table Top Events scheduling):
Once you get the approval email, go back into TTE to the same Apply / View Application screen.
You should see your status as Approved. Click the green Shifts button to go to the "My Volunteer Shifts" page (also accessible by a button at the bottom of the "Available Shifts" page)
Click the green Choose Shifts button at the bottom the next screen. This will show you a list of all of the available shifts.
Click Volunteer for each shift you want to work. When finished click Submit Shifts. Once your chosen shifts are scheduled and approved (by volunteer staff) you will get another email notification.
