Ontario High School

Jon Kilzer & Olivia

My name is Jon Kilzer and I’ve been a counselor at Ontario High School since 2012.  I enjoy sharing with students some of my life experiences including living in Ireland, playing gigs throughout Los Angeles as a jazz bassist and the story of how I got accepted into UCLA. I earned my bachelor's degree in Psychology from UCLA and worked many years as a therapist with young autistic children. I later went on to complete a Master’s degree in School Counseling at Portland State. I work with students whose last names begin with the letter A through L, however, all students are welcome to meet with me.

My name is Olivia Edmunson and I’ve been a school counselor with OSD since 2018.  I began working as a counselor at Aiken Elementary and I then moved to the Ontario High School in December of 2022.  I have a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies, with an emphasis on Sociology and Health & Wellness Studies.  I continued on with my education and received a Master’s degree in Human Behavior.  I have always had a passion to work with students and with that said, I continued with my education and earned a Master’s degree in School Counseling. I assist students whose last name begins with the letter M through Z, however, all students are welcome to see me.

High school years can be filled with excitement, frustration, growth, disappointment, and hope.  This is a time when students begin to uncover what the future may hold for them.  As high school counselors, we support and advocate for all students, staff, and parents. We assist our students by following the American School Counselor Association Model and Oregon School Counselor Association Model with academic success, career readiness, and social/emotional development.  Our primary goal is to assist ALL students and help them become productive and successful members of our community.

Services that we provide consist of:

Susan Hochstrat

My name is Susan Hochstrat. Known around the buildings as Dr. H. I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids either at a rodeo or in the outdoors. We have horses, dogs, goats, cattle, chickens, and turkeys.

I am the College and Career Pathway Coordinator at Ontario High School. I have three Associate Degrees (Liberal Arts, Math and Science, and Social and Behavioral Sciences) from a community college then transferred to Cal State San Bernardino where I earned a Bachelor's degree in History. I continued my education to earn my Master of Arts degree in Educational Counseling from Azusa Pacific University. I then finished my educational journey by earning my Doctorate Degree in Educational Organization Leadership.

Being the College and Career Pathway Coordinator at Ontario High School allows me to be a strong student advocate by being able to support students’ goals/plans after high school whether it be going to a university, being a community college transfer student, serving in the military, or going straight into the workforce. I enjoy working with students and developing goals based on their personalist type and learning style as well as using inventories designed to identify their aptitude and interests.

I recently started working closer with the athletic programs at OHS to help support college-bound student-athletes.

One of my greatest passions is working with dual credit programs and students. I am a big believer in career technical education program development to create cohesiveness with education and career needs.
