Houten from a cyclist's point of view is near perfection. There are a couple of planning details that are very impressive and wise to promote cycling. There is no car lane that goes through Houten. Instead, there is an outside ring that has branches off to connect to the neighborhoods. Schools are along bike paths to promote biking to school instead of driving. The bike paths are marked and are basically endless. You can get from the top of the city to the bottom in around 15 minutes of cycling. To wrap things up from a city/urban planning perspective to promote cycling it is near perfect design.
