The Advance Alignment System of the Heads-Up Display (HUD) is a safety system installed in the HUD designed for airplanes to determine whether its aligned or not. Our task was to detect within an arcminute of rotational displacement, 1/60th of a degree, or 10 micrometers of equivalent linear displacement. This was done using magnets and magnetic senors due to their low cost and effectiveness regarding high accuracy monitoring. The electrical measurements from the sensor are processed in a custom built microprocessor board, then send to a computer through UART communication. A GUI web page was created to present the measurements and showcase the alarm system. The web server is run on a Raspberry Pi that receives the serial signal from the microprocessor. The Alignment System will provide pilots in command an extra safety barrier regarding the HUD. This guarantees accurate information is provided to the pilot so they may land their aircraft easily and safely.
